Most stories included in this category appeared in the wake of the so-called “July Theses” of 1971, which marked the start of a new era when the newsreel was used more keenly as an ideological tool. We have also included here a few other subjects from before the 1970s which foreground a somewhat similar quantitative obsession with the country’s achievements.
